“TREASURE ISLAND”
Once again the Missoula Children’s Theatre is back for another exciting season where they spend an entire week teaching our local kids acting skills. The week culminates into live performances by the kids on Friday & Saturday. This years play is “Treasure Island”.
TREASURE ISLAND: is a play in four acts and ten scenes by Jules Eckert Goodman that is based on Robert Louis Stevenson‘s 1883 novel of the same name.[1] It was first published in 1915 by Samuel French, Inc.,[2] and was later included in the children’s play anthology Another Treasury of Plays for Children (1926, Little, Brown and Company) which was edited by Montrose Jonas Moses.[3] While not the first stage adaptation of Stevenson’s novel, it was the first adaptation to achieve critical and commercial success;[4] bringing both “fame and fortune” to its author.[5]
ABOUT: This adventurous adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel finds young Jim Hawkins as he discovers a treasure map in a dead pirate’s sea-chest. Jim is led on an expedition across the ocean to recover a fortune in plundered gold. Fair winds and favorable seas soon give way to mutiny, greed, and the evil machinations of a one-legged scoundrel named Long John Silver. Join Jim on an unforgettable adventure as he fights for his life — and the lives of his friends — in this legendary tale of piracy and heroism.
