Kicking off our Summer Concert Series this year we have an up and coming Opera singer gracing us with her beautiful voice! Do NOT miss this rare and amazing opportunity to hear what our stage at the Calumet Theatre was built for!
Biography:
Claire Patana, soprano, is studying Vocal Performance at Carnegie Mellon University under Sari Gruber and graduated high school from University of NC School of the Arts. She started voice lessons when she was just 8 years old and has won numerous NATS Awards in both Classical and Musical Theater at the regional and national levels. A NC native, she was involved in Musical Theater at NC Theater Conservatory under Eric Woodall, as well as at Carolina Academy of Performing Arts where she participated in the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta. Claire was also the vocalist for Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Greg Gelb, a nationally recognized group that has performed frequently at The Duke
Ellington Jazz Festival at Jazz at the Lincoln Center. She attended Interlochen Arts Camp for Voice and Opera, International Young Artists Project in Italy performing sacred music, Italian arias, and musical theater, and attended Juilliard’s Winter Festival under
Rachel Callahan and Matt Cahill. Claire has performed in Italy, Austria, and Germany as well as in the USA. She has had the honor of singing the Canadian and US National Anthems for NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, the NCAA Men’s College Cup National Soccer Championship games, as well as for the Greensboro Swarm, Carolina Mudcats, and the Cinch Rodeo in Raleigh. She is currently singing with Half Past 7, a local band in Pittsburgh.
