The Calumet Theatre Company is excited to announce that we are seeking a production intern for our Summer 2019 season, which includes artists like: Rodney Crowell, California Guitar Trio, Robbie Fulks and Randy Palmer.
We are looking for a well-mannered, highly motivated individual who is willing to learn and do good, honest work. The ideal candidate will have a background in live production lighting and sound. The production intern will work closely with our Technical Director.
Duties will include assisting the technical director with such things as:
- Set-up and teardown of live sound systems
- Hanging and focusing of theatrical lights
- Spotlight Operator and/or Light Board Operator during shows
- Rigging (We are one of the few remaining hemp houses in the country)
- Maintenance of theatrical equipment and minor building projects
- Assisting with hospitality needs
The chosen candidate will receive a flat stipend of $2000, to be dispersed on a bi-monthly basis. We are willing to work with the right candidate to accommodate their scheduling needs.
The time commitment will vary per week, but we will try to schedule close to 24 hours per week to allow for a near minimum wage compensation. The exact dates of the internship are flexible, but we would like an 8-week minimum time commitment between June and August. The chosen candidate is more than welcome to work additional hours/weeks beyond this if they choose, but please understand we will not be able to compensate beyond the $2000 stipend.
The Calumet Theatre Company is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates the historic Calumet Theatre. With a small, dedicated staff, we put on 70-80 shows annually ranging from community theatre to national music acts. Completed in 1900, the Calumet Theatre is a registered National Historic Landmark & a member site of the Keweenaw National Historic Park.

BOX OFFICE CLERK
The Box Office Clerk is responsible for greeting patrons (in person, by phone, or by e-mail) and providing Theatre services in a courteous manner. Services include, but are not limited to: sales – tickets, tours, merchandise; directing patrons to appropriate persons or areas; provide general knowledge of Theatre events and of the community. This is a part-time hourly position commensurate with experience.
